RF DRYING SYSTEM SPEEDS FILTER CAKE DRYING
A new drying system which uses RF energy to uniformly heat filter cake material and rapidly remove the water without overheating, at a fraction of the time and expense associated with conventional dryers, is being introduced by Radio Frequency Co., Inc. of Millis, Massachusetts.
The Macrowave™ RF Drying System rapidly removes water from filter cake material using energy applied by radio waves at a frequency of 40.68 MHz. Featuring volumetric heating which keeps the temperature uniform throughout the filter cake to prevent overheating, this conveyorized dryer can be loaded at bed depths up to 6", depending upon the type of material.
Eliminating the long dwell time required by conventional surface heating methods, the Macrowave™ RF Drying System is a suitable replacement for tumble-, spray-, tray-, spin flash-, and belt/tunnel dryers. Typically requiring one-fifth the floor space of these conventional systems, this RF dryer can reduce labor and energy costs by up to 60%, claims the firm.
The Macrowave™ RF Drying System is priced according to size and configuration. Evaluation of the process is available on a pilot system at the manufacturer's facility with as little as 10 lbs. product sample.
